LA
PLETERA
It’s
the land strip running from Els Griells housing estate to the mouth
of the Ter river. It’s an old marshland of approximately 300m
wide and over 1km in length, it’s now drained and has only
one active lagoon known as Frare Ramon. This is found to the south
and has an extension of about 200m long by 20-30m wide. This lagoon
has a natural connection with the sea.

In
addition, all this area includes extensive beaches, a chain of coastal
dunes and an area dominated by salubrious vegetation: glasswort,
(gives its name to the area, and its relevance, since it is the
only area in the Baix Emporda where this type of vegetation can
be found).
